BANKING TEST SERIES (PIPE & CISTERN 3

Welcome to your BANKING TEST SERIES (PIPE & CISTERN 3

1. A container can be filled by two pipes P1 and P2 in 40 hours and 20 hours respectively. It will take ________ hours to fill the container from empty state if P2 is used for half the time and P1 and Pfill it together for the other half.

A tank can be filled in 40 minutes but there are two leakages, one at the bottom of the tank which can empty the full tank in 80 minutes and other at the mid of the tank which can empty the tank in 120 minutes. In how many minutes tank can be filled?

Directions: Information about three values have been given, you have to calculate the value of all three quantities and answer the question accordingly.
X: 60 Men could do a job in 40 days. Due to inclusion of some more Men, the work gets completed in 4/5 time. Fine the number of men added.
Y: A can finish the work in 5 days, while B takes 12 days to complete the same work. If A starts and they work on alternative days, Find the number of days taken to complete the work.
Z: A pipe can fill 40% of the tank in 6 hours. B can empty 30% of the same tank in 12 hours. If the tank is already half filled, find the time taken to fill the tank when both the pipes are opened together.

4. Pipe A can fill a tank in 8 hours and pipe B can empty it in 20 hours. Initially, pipe A alone is operated for 2 hours when the tank was empty. Later, pipe B is opened. How much more time will it take for the tank to be full?

5. There was a leakage in the petrol tank. If 5 litre of petrol is leaked out per day then it would have lasted for 30 days. If the leakage was 7 litre per day, then it would have lasted for only 24 days. For how many days would the petrol have lasted, if there is no leakage and it was completely used for the vehicle?

6. 3 men fill a water tank using buckets in 8hr. 2 men and 4 women fill the same tank in 6hr. The first 2hr tank was filled by 2 men after that remaining tank was filled by 1 man and 3 women. If a hole is found in the tank then tank takes 2hr more to fill. How much time taken by the hole to empty the water in the water tank?

7. A tank is filled by 3 pipes; second pipe take 5 hours more than first pipe and 5 hours less than third pipe to fill the tank alone. If second and third pipe together take 1 hour more than first pipe to fill the tank, then find out how much time second pipe will take to fill the tank alone?

8. Pipe A and Pipe B can fill the water tank in 8 hours and 12 hours. Pipe C can empties the water tank in 16 hours. All pipes are open in the sequence of pipe A and pipe B and pipe C alternatively hours. In how much time the water tank filled?

9. A black pipe can empty a tank in 8 hours, while a red pipe can fill it in 3 hours. If the tank is initially half-filled and the red pipe is opened in it, how many black pipes are required in total to be opened in it to empty the tank in 12 hours?

10. Tap A and B fill a tank in 6 hours and 8 hours respectively and tap C empties the tank in 12½ hours. If all the taps are opened simultaneously, then in how much time(approximate) the tank will be half-filled?

11. Two pipes can fill a cistern in 12 minutes and 24 minutes respectively. The pipes are opened simultaneously, and it is found that due to leakage in the both pipes it took 2 minutes more to fill the cistern. When the tank is completely full, in what time will the leak empty it?

12. A pipe A can fill 3/4th of a cistern in 15 hours and pipe B can fill 2/3rd of the same cistern in 20 hours. If both the pipes open simultaneously then find the time taken by them to fill 80% of the cistern.

13. Pipe A and B together can fill the cistern in 15 minutes. If both the pipes are opened together and after 5 minutes pipe A is closed and remaining tank is filled by B in next 5 minutes, then in how many minutes pipe B alone will fill the tank?

14. Seema can make a bundle of roties in 12 minutes and Samir can make the same bundle of roties in 15 minutes. Together they make 6 fewer roties per minute and complete the bundle in 10 minutes. Find the number of roties in the bundle.

15. Pipe A and B can fill a tank in 8 hrs and 12 hrs respectively while pipe C can empty it in 18 hrs. If all the pipes are opened together and Pipe C is closed 6/11 hours before filling the tank. Find the total time in which the tank is filled.

16. There is a leakage at the bottom of the tank which can empty the tank in 60 hours. Pipe A can fill the tank in 10 hours while pipe B can empty the tank in 40 hours. If pipe A alone opened till 3/4th tank gets filled and then pipe B is opened. In how many hours tank gets completely filled?

17. Pipe A can fill the tank in one hour but every hour its efficiency decreases to 1/12 for first hour, 1/9 for second hour and 1/6 for third hour of its original efficiency. Another pipe B can fill the tank in 2 hours but follows the same process as of first pipe. Find the time taken by both to fill the tank of 7/24 of its capacity with their varying efficiency.

18. 9 taps are fitted in a tank in which some are inlet taps and some are outlet taps. Each inlet tap can fill the tank in 20 hours and each outlet tap can empty the tank in 30 hours. Find the number of outlet taps if the whole tank is filled in 5 hours when all the 9 taps are open.

19. 12 taps are fitted in a tank in which some are inlet taps and some are outlet taps. Each inlet tap can fill the tank in 30 hours and each outlet tap can empty the tank in 40 hours. Find the number of outlet taps if the whole tank is filled in 6 hours when all the 12 taps are open.

20. There is a leak in the bottom of the tank. This leak can empty the tank in 15 hours. Tap A alone can fill the tank in 6 hours. Tap A opens for 4 hours after that remaining part of the tank is filled by tap B in 18 hours. When both pipes are opened simultaneously, then in what time tank is completely filled?

21. Pipe A takes 10 hours more than Pipe B to fill a tank. Pipe C(which is equally efficient as Pipe A and Pipe B together), fills the same tank in 12 hours. In how many hours will Pipe A, Pipe B and Pipe C fill the tank if Pipe A is accompanied by B and C on alternate hours.
